2 Neat New Music Sites

Posted on May 20th, by Maz Ameli in Etc.. No Comments

I came across two very cool and promising music sites today:

1. TheSixtyOne

I’ve only just started using this site today, but I already love it. Think Pandora + Digg + XBox LIVE + Virb + VH1 Pop-up Videos. Here’s the process. The whole idea is that musicians upload songs to the site, and listeners vote on the tracks they like best. The songs that get voted most (or “bumped”) get put on the homepage. Sounds simple, but that’s not all. To make the whole thing fun (and addictive), you can’t just bump up every song, willy nilly. Every user has an allotment of points; bumping a song takes 5. And to keep people from bumping songs up that they haven’t even listened to, you have to listen to a song for at least one minute before you can bump it. You start out with 100 points, and doing certain things gives you more points.

For example, listening to about 5 songs gives you 100 points (it also unlocks an “achievement,” just like xbox games; I am not kidding, and it is awesome). You can also earn points by listening to songs that are on “the rack,” which is a list of songs … Read More »

MUTO, a wall-painted animation by BLU

Elycia Playing GTA 4

Posted on May 14th, by Maz Ameli in Video Games. No Comments

My roommate, Matt, decided for some terrible reason that it would be a good idea to have our friend Elycia come over and play GTA 4 last night, so I grabbed my MBP real quick and filmed her reactions.

If you’re the sort of person who Diggs things, digg this video here!

Tarsim’s “The Fall”

Posted on May 13th, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television. No Comments

Sarah, Matt, Allen, and I got around to seeing the new film by Tarsem, “The Fall,” last Saturday. It definitely deserves a post. The story takes place in a hospital in LA in the 1930s, and centers around a stunt-double who’s broken his legs and who tells an epic story to an adorable foreign girl with a broken arm (I believe she’s from eastern Europe). The story and their lives begin to interweave, and the whole film has this amazing, surreal, dreamlike feel to it. I thought the plot was great, with one goofy hiccup in the way the conflict with the villain is resolved (our audience laughed). There are great motifs of redemption to be found, and I love the way the film interpreted the way dreams and reality can blur together (reminded me a lot of Michel Gondry).

If you’ve ever seen “The Cell,” you’ll immediately recognize Tarsem‘s cinematographic style. It’s simply a beautifully shot movie; easily up there with “Amelie.” The opening sequence looks more like a slideshow of moving photography by Ansel Adams than a movie.

Going Through 8,000 Spam Comments

Posted on May 13th, by Maz Ameli in Web Stuff. No Comments

I decided to get back into the whole blogging thing (there must be thousands of blog posts that start exactly like that), I think partly ’cause of Trevor revitalizing his. I was not expecting to have 8,000 spam comments awaiting moderation when I logged in for the first time in a long time, though. So, after picking out a new theme and all that (how do you like it?), my first chore was to manually go through all my comments, 25 at a time, and mark them all as spam. No small task, and not really a fun one, but what was unexpectedly awesome were some of the fantastically weird titles that some of these comments had. I’ve decided to share the best ones with you, in no particular order:

Freey Tranny Sex Thumbs (I’m guessing this refers to thumbnail images, and I really hope I’m not wrong…)
Penis (this one gets points for being direct)
Fifi and the Flowertots
Boob Hanger (this conjures images of either a storehouse for enormous breasts, or a prosthetic storage accessory)
Black People (a reference website for people who live in Minnesota, maybe?)
Prozac Sex (together at last)

Andrew and Stefanie Photoshoot

Andrew and Stefanie 2, originally uploaded by mazameli.

Andrew and Stefanie came to visit this weekend and we went down to the park on Ocean Ave. by my place for an impromptu photo shoot. It’s easy to take great portraits when your subjects look like models, you know?

Check out the rest of the photos if you want, too.

Pushing Daises

Posted on October 9th, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television. No Comments

It’s rare that I watch a pilot episode of a new show on television. In fact, it’s rare that I watch TV at all; I much prefer downloading videos off of iTunes or getting the season DVDs (I’ve actually never seen an episode of “Lost” on TV). Justin and Allen persuaded me to check out “Pushing Daises,” though, which is one of ABC’s new shows this season, and I was absolutely blown away.

Found this on Digg today; it’s an amazing gallery of photographs of young homeless people.

In other news, I went up to Santa Barbara this last weekend to be in the wedding of my old buddy from high school, Alan. I got to take a good number of pictures before and after the ceremony, and said pictures can be consumed, optically, here.

Garth Marenghi’s “Darkplace”

Posted on August 15th, by Maz Ameli in Culture, Film and Television, Web Stuff. No Comments

I’ve just discovered the best show ever! It only ran for 6 episodes on the BBC back in 2004, but it’s this hilarious spoof of 1980s sci-fi / horror shows, sort of like Quantum Leap or Dr. Who. It’s intentionally low-fi, with awful acting and writing, but in a brilliant way.

You can watch the first episode online over at the Sci-Fi channel’s Web site, and I found the second episode on YouTube, too. Sci-Fi is apparently airing all the episodes late at night on Sundays, too. So check it out and thank me later!

UPDATE: Just found episodes 4, 5, and 6 on Google Video!

Pitchfork’s Radioheadgasm

Posted on August 5th, by Maz Ameli in Music. No Comments

I heard about Pitchfork Media awhile ago, but only recently have read some of their articles. I wasn’t really shocked or impressed in either direction: their reviews were either nose-in-the-air music snobbery or somewhat witty essay-ettes. But then – then I came across this sparkling gem of a review. It’s for Radiohead’s “Kid A.” The author, Brent DiCrescenzo, throughout his review dances on the razor-thin line between parody of himself and outright silliness. I really, really want to believe he’s joking, that he doesn’t actually believe that the album’s “harrowing sounds hit from unseen angles and emanate with inhuman genesis.” The guy compares listening to a Radiohead song to seeing a mother f-ing falling star. I can’t even wrap my brain around how crazy-bad this review is, regardless of how you feel about Radiohead and/or Kid A. In fact, I’m damn sure that though you may absolutely love Radiohead, you couldn’t possibly say something like this with a straight face: “The experience and emotions tied to listening to Kid A are like witnessing the stillborn birth of a child while simultaneously having the opportunity to see her play in the afterlife on Imax.”

“Witnessing the stillborn birth of a child???” I’m … Read More »

Eye-tracking Studies

Posted on August 4th, by Maz Ameli in Design, Web Stuff. No Comments

Andy Rutledge has a great post on his Design View blog today about the damage done by these Web site eye-tracking studies done by non-designers.

The gist of the post is that these people are making gross assumptions of what “works better” on Web sites based on what really just amounts to people’s surfing habits. An example of a mistaken conclusion that they arrive at is that, “Users spend a good deal of time initially looking at the top left of the page and upper portion of the page before moving down and right-ward.” This may be true, but only because it’s become a Web design convention, and designers often choose to direct viewers’ eyes there.

Andy makes the great point that a competant designer should be able to lead the eye of the viewer in whatever direction he chooses, and it’s foolishness on the part of these studies to claim that certain areas on a Web page are inherently “more effective” than others.

Check out his archives, too. There are some great articles where he discusses the design problems of major Web sites like Amazon, eBay, and Google.

July Music Consumption Update

Posted on July 11th, by Maz Ameli in Music. No Comments

Let’s get right down to it:

Muse, “Black Holes & Revelations”
Really good! More accessible and than Absolution, and also more fun, funky, and hard rock. Highly recommended. 8.5/10

The Weepies, “Say I Am You”
What an awesome find. I just randomly bought this one ’cause I liked the cover art and it was on the recommended rack at Tower, and I lucked out big time because this album is seriously great. Folksy, harmonious, bittersweet. 8/10

KT Tunstall, “Eye to the Telescope”
You probably know her from the single, “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” but the rest of this CD is so great, too. A solid 8/10. My single choice off of it is “Silent Sea,” a hopeful, haunting little ditty.

The Who, “The Ultimate Collection”
How could I pass up this 2 disc behemoth for a mere $18? I’ve been watching a lot of “Freaks and Geeks” lately, so it was only natural that I’d be curious about this third of the 60s/70s Britpop Trinity. They’re kind of hit and miss for me, though there are just some outstanding songs that I’m sure you’ve at the very least heard of – “The Seeker,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Magic Bus,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” and “Squeeze Box,” to … Read More »

Concerts

Posted on June 2nd, by Maz Ameli in Music. No Comments

I got to go to two great shows this last week.

On Friday I went to the Knitting Factory in Hollywood and saw The Rocket Summer, along with three opening bands. Brandtson was first, and they weren’t bad at all – poppy alt rock with some synth stuff going on. (Check out “Earthquakes and Sharks,” “Here We Go,” and “Nobody Dances Anymore.”) The second group was Nightmare of You, and they were awful. Their vocalist sounded like he had chosen that very day to sing for the first time. Their lyrics were sarcastic, tongue-in-cheeck, innuendo-laden piles of drivel. Not fun. Third was Paramore, who I really enjoyed. They market themselves as Underoath-with-a-female-lead-vocalist, and it was a very interesting sound. Their frontwoman was a highly charismatic (read: really cute), petite girl with a relatively low voice for a girl.

Music Consumption Update

Posted on May 8th, by Maz Ameli in Music. No Comments

I’ve been acquiring new music ravenously these last few weeks. Here’s the breakdown:

Sufjan Stevens, “Greetings from Michigan”
Absolutely wonderful music. Iron & Wine mixed with the Polyphonic Spree, maybe? By turns haunting, silly, cheerful, hopeful, and poignant. My favorite tracks are “Holland,” “Romulus,” and “Vito’s Ordination Song.” He’s evidently a Christian, but very subtle about weaving in his faith into his lyrics.

LA Football

Posted on May 2nd, by Maz Ameli in News. No Comments

I heard on the radio tonight that LA is trying to get its own football team, but that’s not the subject of this post. What was funny was how the guy they were interviewing about it was using football analogies to talk about trying to get a football team. He said they were “definitely moving the ball down the field,” but that they “[weren't] in the endzone yet.”

It just struck me as being really funny.

Web Stuff

Posted on March 14th, by Maz Ameli in Web Stuff. No Comments

I’ve been playing around with some of the neat web app kind of things that have been floating around the ‘net lately. I’ve had a Flickr account for a dang long time, but never really got around to using it. I’m sure you’ve heard of it or used it way more than I have, so I won’t go into more details than to say that it’s a neat way to share and find photos online.

The other site is called ma.gnolia, and I think it was started by Zeldman and those guys from HappyCog. It seemed pretty buggy to me tonight, but we’ll see if they get the wrinkles out. Ma.gnolia is to bookmarks/favorites what Flickr is to photos. It’s a way to share and find cool links and find stuff related to what you’ve already posted.

Time for a Redesign?

Posted on March 14th, by Maz Ameli in Design. No Comments

Ugh, my home page, MazAmeli.com, is looking mighty stale to me these days. I haven’t touched the poor site in what feels like forever. Time for some Spring cleaning. I guess the CSS Reboot is coming up pretty soon; mayhaps I’ll cook something up for that. Time to bust out some trendy diagonal stroke fills and gradients! Throw in some AJAX and I’ll be Web 2.0ing in style.

Yellowcard and “Walk the Line”

Posted on December 2nd, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television, Music. No Comments

I got to see Yellowcard on Monday with Gieve, Jacob, and Josh over at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Dang, did we have a great time. The Catalyst is a very cool little dive with a lot of character and history. Not a very big venue, either. The opening bands were Reeve Oliver (they weren’t so hot live, but they sound good recorded), and Acceptance (not bad, but their set went too long). Yellowcard did a great set, played for like an hour and a half, and did the best flippin’ job I’ve yet seen of getting the crowd really pumped up. Being there reminded me of my childhood days in mosh pits and at the Warped Tour.

I also saw “Walk the Line” on Wednesday, and really liked it. It’s got some obvious similarities to “Ray,” but it’s definitely its own film. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon both do a fantastic job, the music is great (I couldn’t believe how well both of the actors sang), and the story is involving and interesting. Definitely Oscar nominee material.

Ash’s Wedding

Posted on November 27th, by Maz Ameli in Life. No Comments

I just got home very, very early this morning from Ash and Courtney’s wedding. I had a fast paced and fun filled week, but I am so tired right now that I can hardly even type.

I got to Pepperdine on Tuesday, and right away we hit up the old haunts – mongolian bbq and volcano tea. Wednesday was the “bachelor party,” which consisted of us spending the whole day at Magic Mountain. The X was such a fun ride, though we had to wait in line for like 3 hours for that one. We took Ash out to Claim Jumper’s next, and then smoked cigars out on the Malibu Pier that night. That was a lot of fun; really chill. I spent Thanksgiving Day with Tony and Ryan at Ryan’s family’s home. It was great to finally meet his parents and brothers – they were totally awesome people.

Friday morning, we got up early and drove to Tulare for the wedding rehearsal. The rehearsal dinner was at this cool little restaurant called The Depot, and it was this remodeled train depot. Really great food, too. That night, we went back to the home we were staying at and stayed up late … Read More »

Halloween Weekend and More!

Posted on November 2nd, by Maz Ameli in Culture, Design, Film and Television, Life, Music. No Comments

Spent a greater part of yesterday and today working on some art for a women’s retreat brochure. It’s been really fun to get back into drawing lately.

Almost done reading The Kite Runner, and I absolutely recommend it.

I’ve been listening almost obsessively to Cartel’s “Chroma.” Very catchy pop rock.

Has anyone seen “Good night and good luck” yet? It looks good.

Halloween weekend was fun. Marc’s birthday party was on Friday, then there was the high school / college group party at our place on Saturday, and that was nuts. I’ve never seen so many people in our house before. Thanks to everyone that made that possible! Haha! A really good magician performed for us, too; he’s a graduate from Berean as I understand. Sunday was Marc’s baptism, which was awesome, and then a whole ton of Mafia. Halloween itself was pretty dull for me. Supposed to help out with a middle school party at the church office, but no one showed up, which was actually a relief for all of us I think.

These Blues

Posted on October 24th, by Maz Ameli in Music. No Comments

Is this the New Year or just another night?
Is this the new fear or just another fright?
Is this the new tear or just another desperation?

Is this the finger or just another fist?
Is this the kingdom or just a hit n’ miss?
A misdirection, most in all this desperation

Is this what they call freedom?
Is this what you call pain?
Is this what they call discontented fame?

It’ll be a day like this one
When the world caves in

I’m singing this one like a broken piece of glass
From broken arms an’ broken noses in the back
Is this the New Year or just another desperation?

You’re pushing till you’re shoving
You bend until you break
Till you stand on the broken fields where our fathers lay

It’ll be a day like this one
When the world caves in

There’s nothing here worth saving,
Is no one here at all?
Is there any net left that could break our fall?

It’ll be a day like this one
When the sky falls down and the hungry and poor and deserted are found
Are you discontented? Have you been pushing hard?
Have you been through and down this broken house of cards?

It’ll be a day like this one
When the world caves in

Is there nothing left now?
Nothing left to sing
Are there any left … Read More »

Insomnia

Posted on October 13th, by Maz Ameli in Design, Life. No Comments

I just couldn’t sleep tonight. Went to bed around midnight, danced on the edge of sleep for a good 2 or three hours, and then just gave up. Ended up reading some of Treasure Island, The Screwtape Letters, and playing some WoW.

I’m trying to come up with a better way of presenting and organizing all of my portfolio material. It’s really gotten to be quite a task; I’ve amassed a lot of work since college.

Oh, and pretty sweet about the new video iPods, huh? It was inevitable.

Just finished the design for the new EPC church planting brochure. It’ll be on my portfolio soon enough.

I got the Firefly DVDs last Friday! I’ve been watching them voraciously, and they’re great. Really solid, funny, and deep characters.

“Serenity”

Posted on October 1st, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television. No Comments

Just saw “Serenity” this afternoon, and it blew my friggin’ mind! I had heard before of the TV show it’s based on, “Firefly,” but never got around to seeing it before it was prematurely cancelled.

The movie and TV series is really best described as a Sci-fi western. It’s written and directed by Joss Whedon, the mind behind Buffy and Angel. Even if you didn’t like those two series (I only saw a few episodes of Buffy ever, and didn’t care for it much), let me assure you that “Serenity” is amazingly interesting, well written, funny, action packed, and touching. It builds real characters that you will immediately have a passionate response to one way or the other.

“Serenity” is how the Star Wars prequels should have been.

To clarify, you need not have ever seen a single episode of “Firefly” to appreciate this movie. Like I said, I still haven’t seen “Firefly,” although I *did* just order the DVD boxed set…

You really have to see this movie!

Lots of Movies

Posted on September 29th, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television. No Comments

I’ve been to the movies a whole lot lately:

“The Island”: Probably not in theaters any more. Liked it, despite some plot holes and getting a little cliche in parts. Definitely worth seeing. A sci-fi action mystery with likeable characters.

“Red Eye”: Excellent, tightly written little thriller. Not a whole lot of surprises, but perfectly executed, with great performances (especially Rachel McAdams’ :b ).

“Flightplan”: Similar to “Red Eye” only in setting. It’s more of a dramatic mystery than a thriller. Doesn’t hold the tension as well as it could, but Foster is still engaging to watch.

“Just Like Heaven”: Exactly what you think it’s going to be – a sweet, cute, date movie. It’s a pretty good one, at that. John Heder has some great cameo scenes, and the leads do a good job. It even has a nice little twist.

“The Constant Gardener”: Simply excellent. Complex, interesting, beautiful cinematography – a great movie. A movie that deals with the issue of idealism versus realism, and the AIDS epidemic in Africa, as well as the problems with pharmeceutical companies’ practices. Highly recommended.

Belize

Posted on August 5th, by Maz Ameli in Christianity, Life, Travel. No Comments

This Wednesday I just got back from a 10 day mission trip in Belize, Central America. (It used to be called British Honduras, and it borders Guatemala, if that helps.) Our team was 25 people from Clayton Community Church, and we worked and stayed at an orphanage in Ontario, Cayo.

One week after we got there, our team was out for some R&R getting some ice cream, and then afterwards we went to a bridge over a river that’s supposed to be fun to jump off of. The team that went to Belize from our church last year had a blast doing it. But what happened to us was that one of the first kids that jumped off the bridge dove head first and hit his head hard on something under the water. When he surface, he was floating face down in the water, and couldn’t move. He was rushed to a hospital in Belize City, and it turned out that he shattered his C5 vertebrae, and fractured his C3. His name is Spencer, and he’s 20. He’s one of church’s worship team musicians, and a really awesome guy.

Spencer was airlifted from Belize to UCSF on Tuesday, August 2nd, and had … Read More »

Home School

Posted on April 16th, by Maz Ameli in Culture, Life. No Comments

As some of you know, I was home schooled as a child, all the way up to my freshman year of high school. I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole idea of home schooling lately, and I saw this news bit last week about how more and more people are choosing home school as an alternative to our abysmal public school system (particularly here in California).

One of the biggest concerns many have with this trend, I think, is the potential negative impact that it may have on the poor. Obviously, one can’t be home schooled if there isn’t anyone at home to be the teacher, so low income, single parent households would find it hard or impossible to home school a child. The problem is that in many cases, children that are taught in a home school environment actually tend to do better in college than those that attended public or private schools. So some say that it “looks good” on a college application if one was home schooled. Where does that leave the already disadvantaged inner city students?

Even more importantly, it doesn’t seem that this trend is helping public schools, especially in the area of funding. Instead of … Read More »

Hey, there!

My birthday came and went, and I had fun; we went into the city and watched an improv show. Hard to believe I’m 23.

I’m just frantically trying to get my grad school apps in on (or close to on) time.

For those of you who enjoyed the Angry Movie, you’ll be glad to know that we’re working on another totally unrelated video. Stay tuned!

Rainy Days

Posted on December 30th, by Maz Ameli in Life, Music, Web Stuff. No Comments

Forced myself to wake up at 8:30 this morning just to attempt to get back in a semblance of a regular sleep schedule. I realized it was getting bad when I was entirely convinced that yesterday was Thursday. I was so convinced, that when I found out it wasn’t, I seriously felt like I had gained an extra day. I think this happened because I kept staying up late, and then looked at the day / date in the top right of my screen, and of course it says the “next” day, so I got confused. I don’t think I got as screwed up as Jason though.

It’s been raining quite a bit up here, and I went out the other day taking pictures of old buildings around Clayton with my dad’s SLR that he never uses, so I hope to get some cool prints and then I’ll scan ‘em and put ‘em up on the web. There seriously are a bunch of weird, creepy, old buildings around here, and the rain made it look even better.

The Importance of Being Angry

Posted on December 28th, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television, Web Stuff. No Comments

What Happened at 5am

Posted on December 25th, by Maz Ameli in Film and Television, Life. No Comments

My brothers and I decided that our parents were getting off too easy these days ’cause they don’t have to wake up early for Christmas anymore since we all like to sleep in now that we’re older. So we woke up at 4:30am this morning and barged into our parents’ bedroom, jumping up and down and yelling, “wake up! it’s christmas!!” It was sureal and hilarious.

We went very nontraditional this year: no tree, no lights, just one or two presents each. Trying to focus on Jesus instead of the material junk. We had breakfast together, then we went and saw “Finding Neverland,” which was great, but not excellent. Then we just kinda kicked it around the house.

Anyway, I hope you had a fun and meaningful Christmas, and God bless you and your family and friends and enemies.

What I’ve Been Up To

Posted on December 22nd, by Maz Ameli in Culture, Film and Television, Life. No Comments

Got back from school on Saturday. There was *so* much fog coming back on the 5. The ceremony was good; short and sweet. The guest speaker was this guy who had devoted his life to treating burn victims, and he was totally engaging. I went with my family and some of the guys to Alegria for lunch afterwards, and that was fun. (Shoutout to the Dewey crew!)

“Fellowship” was awesome! So funny! They’ve extended the dates into late January, so go see it. It’s playing at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, and it’s like $12 for students.

So, what have I been up to? Well:

Just been kickin’ it around home, learning to deal with our two new puppies; very cute and fun, but a major headache sometimes.

Went into the city with Rob yesterday; got Thai food and watched “A Series of Unfortunate Events” (great art direction, but story left many questions gapingly open).

Working on apps to grad schools.

I hope you’re doing well and that you and your family have a great Christmas. God bless!

So I had a blast at the show tonight. It was definitely a great way to go out. My brother and dad were there, so that was cool, and a bunch of my buddies drew goatees on themselves with magic marker, and that was hilarious. I had a blast hanging out with everybody after the show too, although it turns out I suck at Mafia! Haha.

I’m gonna miss you all a bunch. It’ll be different from now on, but no less awesome. I love you all, and we’ll see each other when we see each other.

Good luck with finals.

Also, I just ran into Brandon from Aria Decline, and he said that their set tomorrow night doesn’t start until 10:30ish, so you can totally make it to both.

A lot of people have been asking me about plans post graduation. As of now, I’m planning on applying to CalArts, the Art Center, and RISD for grad school in graphic design. I’ll hear back from them in the Spring, but they don’t start until Fall, so I’ll have a while to work, etc. I’m really leaving it up to God to see where He’ll take me; maybe not even to grad school, maybe a travelling computer technician missionary or something crazy, which would be awesome too. We’ll see. But I will keep in touch with each of you. I’ve made awesome friends here, and I don’t plan on losing them.

Moving Again

If you’re still reading my sporadic posts by this time, I applaud your diligence. I reflected on how many times I’ve moved “blogs” over the years, and here’s the history:

The Maz Experience (Geocities)
God’s Kid (Xanga)
The Mazazine (LiveJournal)
And finally here!

I really just like the look and feel of Blogger; it’s really easy. Pictures are a bit of an issue, but they offer some free alternatives.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Eternal Sunshine

I watched “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” twice this week, never having seen it before. Utterly outstanding! (As a parenthetical, yes, I realize that I sound like the guy in Jim Gaffigan’s stand-up routine who wants to talk about the movie that everyone else saw years ago. Basically everyone cool and artsy already claims this film as one of their favorites, so I know I’m not doing anything new. But still!)

If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ve got to. Mind-blowing cinematography, amazing screenplay, beautiful story. Just greatness.

I’m guessing most people know this, but the script was written by Charlie Kaufman, and you should check out his other films, “Being John Malkovich,” and “Adaptation.” He also did, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” “Human Nature,” and, “A Scanner Darkly,” but I haven’t seen those, so I can’t really recommend them. Weird and awesome stuff.

Solitary

These past three days have felt like solitary confinement. I haven’t really had anything due in my classes, but everyone else is totally busy. I just feel out of step sort of. I’ve slept until noon every day, and it’s starting to drive me nuts. It’s funny, but I’m really glad that I have work in the morning, just to have something to do. I did get around to doing some graphics stuff, but there’s just so much I want to do, and I can only stare at a computer screen for so many hours before I go crazy. I got kind of mad at God, like why is He making me go through this, but I ended up having some good Bible reading time and prayer time and stuff. It still sucks to be alone so much, though.

I stumbled on a neat website tonight where you can search through all these missionary opportunities, and there’s one where you can be a computer technician for missionary families throughout Spain, just traveling around and helping them for like a year. I got really excited about the idea and emailed them, so I just gotta wait and hear back from them tomorrow.
